Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine involves the use of plants and plant substances for their medicinal properties. The use of plants for prevention and treatment of disease goes back centuries and continues to be used safely and effectively in the proper dosage and when correctly used with other herbs and treatments. As such, their limitations and potential side effects or interactions with other treatments necessitate their use by appropriately trained health care providers. Botanical medicines can be prepared in various forms such as teas, capsules or tablets, and tinctures (alcohol based extracts).
